Originally from Mexico City, I grew up immersed in a colourful and culturally rich country. My appreciation for art and design emerged at an early age. I began to paint using pastels and switched to acrylics when I was a teenager and have been using them for over two decades.
I have a degree in Graphic Design and a diploma in Motion Graphics and Visual Effects. I also run a business designing art prints and textiles for home decor. I am blessed to be able to paint in my studio in North Saanich surrounded by nature and to call Vancouver Island my home. Art has always been a big part of my life. Painting is a very important form of expression for me and I can’t imagine my life without it. I like to use colours in intuitive ways where textures and shapes emerge spontaneously, creating simple yet complex paintings. I use layering techniques that create depth and make the painting colourful and full of light. My abstract paintings are characterized by textures, marks and bright colours. My inspirations come from colours in nature and emotions that I go through in my daily life, painting energetically with the freedom of play and expression of what I feel in the moment. As an abstract expressionist I continue to experiment and learn new styles hoping that my work can spark joyful emotions that viewers can connect with and also enhance the mood of a living space. |
